60th Anniversary, Chemung ARC’s annual signature fundraiser. SHOW YOUR SUPPORT 2013 marks Chemung ARC’s 60th year enriching the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Chemung County. To celebrate this milestone, we will host a dinner and dance at the Elmira Country Club, May 4 at 6 p.m. The ticket price will be $35/person for our staff and $50/person for supporters. This cost will cover a formal dinner, dancing, and entertainment by Top Shelf.
Proceeds raised in excess of the event cost will be forwarded to the Chemung ARC Recreation Program, which has seen an annual funding cut of $40,000 in recent years. The Recreation Program provides social interaction and engagement opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities. Social isolation is something our agency has long fought to prevent. Elimination of these important opportunities would essentially isolate the people we serve, significantly diminishing their quality of life. As we all know, a well-attended event serves as a strong signal of community support for an organization and its work. Please join us on May 4; stand by Chemung ARC as we celebrate 60 years of success in Chemung County. Contact Chemung ARC if you would like to volunteer or sponsor next year's event or would like more information on the agency's signature event and/or other special events. 607.734.6151 or Info@ChemungARC.org Click Here -- Show your support
Kids on the Block is a powerful eduation program designed for third grade youth to teach children disability awareness. The style of puppetry used is based on the Japanese
Bunraku puppet theatre. The large colorful puppets are "shadowed" by the puppeteers who are dressed in black. Because of the generous sponsosrhip from local foundations, businesses,
and community members, Chemung ARC is able to offer FREE Kids on the Block performances. Each performance lasts 50 to 60 minutes and includes a Question & Answer period in which
students interact directly with the characters. During this time, myths and misconceptions are replaced with facts and sensitivity. To book a performance, make a donation to Kids on the Block,
or to learn more about this exciting program, please contact Chemung ARC at (607) 734-6151x134.
