Do you want to make a monetary gift to Chemung ARC that will last?

The Chemung ARC Fund is a local endowment administered through the Community Foundation of the Elmira-Corning Area, Inc. The Chemung ARC Fund Committee provides oversight for the use of distributions from the Fund and is accountable to the Chemung ARC Board of Directors.

Your gift today to the Fund builds the principle of this investment, making its earnings greater over time and increasing the amount of money available for use. Further, the principle can never be used. Only its earnings are spent periodically.

The Fund is not intended to replace or supplement money budgeted for Chemung ARC operations. It is used to "fill the gaps" and provide for special needs or unforeseen expenses beyond those provided for by various other agencies, including government supports.

Gifts to the Fund are tax deductible and can be made by check, payable to "Chemung ARC Fund."

We also welcome gifts in the form of stocks, bonds or mutual funds that have appreciated in value. This method of donation has three advantages:

The Fund receives a gift equal to the current market value of these securities;
You pay no capital gains tax on the appreciated value of the securities; and,
Your gift is generally fully deductible on your income tax return.

In June of 2002, history was made. The Chemung ARC Fund Committee approved its first ever requests for funding, a milestone event in the history of the endowment.

The following community leaders serve the agency and its consumers on the Chemung ARC Fund Committee, which has oversight for the use of distributions from the Fund's interest earnings:

Together with Chemung ARC staff members, this group reviews requests for funding and awards money based on eligibility requirements.
