RE: The Arc of Chemung Announces New Executive Director

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Elmira, NY – The Arc of Chemung’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Mr. Sean Eagen has been named Executive Director, effective July 1, 2017. Click here to view the full press release.

Eagen brings a wealth of experience into his new role, having been with The Arc of Chemung for 19 years. Most recently, Eagen served as the Associate Executive Director for Programs and previously, the Residential Director. Prior to joining The Arc of Chemung, Eagen held a key management role, for 19 years, at Glove House.

“While we all already know Sean well, the Search Committee was especially impressed with Sean's vision for the future, commitment to the people we support, the staff and families,” said Cheryl Guild, President of The Arc of Chemung’s Board of Directors. “Sean competed with 28 other applicants during the search and was selected as our top pick.”

Upon accepting the position, Mr. Eagen noted, “It is a privilege to be part of an organization that is at the forefront of transforming lives and strengthening our local community. I’m looking forward to working with the Board, our talented staff, and volunteers at The Arc of Chemung and am excited about the important work ahead.”

The current Executive Director, Michael A. Doherty, Ph.D., announced his retirement in December 2016, with plans to depart on June 30, 2017. Eagen will be working closely over the next two months with Doherty, to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
