RE: Spooktacular Race Event a Huge Success!

Elmira, NY – The Arc of Chemung announces that the 2nd Annual Spooktacular 5k and Scarecrow Sprint 1 Mile event was a huge success! Taking place on Sunday, October 23rd, the event engaged 131 runners and walkers while raising nearly $5,000, to benefit the agency’s Recreation Program. Participants were as young as five years of age and included folks of all abilities.

The Arc of Chemung’s Recreation Program creates recreation, socialization and leisure opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. People with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in the community are very often socially isolated and lack the social skills to pursue a life with meaningful relationships. Funds raised enable The Arc to provide opportunities for individual successes and meaningful relationships.

A special thank you to our event sponsors who make this charity event possible: Silver Sponsors: Visions Federal Credit Union, Wink106, 100.9 the Wolf, Wingz 104.9; Excellus BlueCross BlueShield; The Hilliard Corporation; Gough Holding Corporation; Mengel Metzger Barr & Co. LLP; Southern Tier Running Club; Cameron Manufacturing and Design; First Heritage Federal Credit Union; Perry & Carroll Insurance; Southside Pudgies Pizza, Pasta and Subs; as well as Ultimate Fit Chick and Past & Present DJ Productions, who both volunteered their time and talent.

Race results and photos can be found on The Arc of Chemung’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ArcOfChemung.
